The Trust currently has four Trustees:

Ralph Berry

Chairman/Treasurer - member of the Trust since 2005

Ralph is a semi-retired accountant and has been active in the Trust’s 

financial affairs, and a driving force behind its fund raising ventures.


William Abel

Trustee – joining the Trust in 2013

William is a dedicated conservationist and along with wife Jan, has been instrumental in covenanting three properties, conducting pest control operations, promoting conservation management, and has been very active within Ducks Unlimited New Zealand serving on the board for over 20 years.

Trustee – joining the Trust in 2013

Jan, along with husband William, has also been active with Ducks Unlimited serving as secretary for a number of years, and embraced the kiwi breeding kiwi programme on their Manunui property near Raetihi, with a vision to leave a living legacy of kiwi for present and future generations to enjoy.

Nicole Dillon

Trustee – joining the Trust in 2014

Nicole comes to the Trust from a strong background in kiwi management and research obtained from several years of service with the Department of Conservation Tongariro Forest Kiwi Sanctuary. Nicole adds considerable support and knowledge to the Project Management Team.

Kerry Oates

Trustee Emeritus – Project Manager

Formerly a Trustee, Kerry now takes an honorary role and is the Project Manager and Technical Advisor to the Trust in regards to kiwi breeding and protection works undertaken at Manunui. Kerry is an Environmental Consultant who has spent 15 years researching kiwi populations in plantation forests.
